ARCHAEOBOTANICAL GALLERY

In the follwoing pages are shown images taken just for documentaion (mostly in the field laboratory) of diverse excavations in Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania. Collecting through the years archaeobotanical documentaion I found it somehow pitty not to be able to share it with those who would be interested. The shown here pictures are not a complete overview of the finds, they have more the purpose to give some impression on the found archaeobotanical materials and to encourage discussion.

Egypt

Mud bricks

plant tempering of Coptic mudbricks from the area of Deir Abu Hinis, Dair el Barsha and Sheiks Said, Middle Egypt

OLD KINGDOM

charred plant macrofossils from Old Kingdom contexts
(photo documentaion from the field laborytory)

PLANT REMAINS DUNG

plant remains preserved in herbivore dung from diverse sites in Egypt
